Introducing

Mini Musicians

  • The Mini Musicians program is a no-pressure, no-practice curriculum where we explore music and the piano through improvisation, songs and games.

  • In their first year, Mini Musicians learn to explore sounds, listen actively and move to music. They also get introduced to the piano keys, develop reading skills and learn about rhythm notation.

  • You do not need a piano at home for your child to take part in this class.

  • Students in Mini Musicians will not have practice assignments.

The Structure of the class

  • Mini Musicians is a weekly 40-minute class.

  • Groups are kept small, just 4-6 students, so your child will get the individual attention they need to thrive.

  • Each weekly class involves singing, moving, improvising and learning about music through games.

  • Parents normally do not stay for this class (kids often find their own parents a bit distracting!) but some students may need this in the first few weeks to ease the transition.

Private piano lessons

I am also taking new students for private lessons. I am proud to announce that I will be starting to use the Piano Safari method for my new students ages 5-11. Piano Safari is a series of method books developed by Katherine Fisher and Dr. Julie Knerr, whose combined decades of teaching experience and pedagogical research have resulted in a unique method that emphasizes what other method books leave out. Please visit their website to learn more.

I love to teach adults as well! I offer regular casual (optional) performance opportunities for adult amateurs - we have a lovely community of adult learners that support each other. We’d love for you to join us!

In my studio I…

  • Incorporate games for lessons based on creativity and fun

  • Do not neglect Aural and Rhythm skills

  • Specifically tailor each lesson to each individual child

  • Offer performance opportunities twice a year
